What You’ll Do
As a Purchasing Manager, you play a critical role in ensuring Alpha Tile & Stone maintains the right products, inventory levels, and supplier relationships to support customer demand and business growth. Your work directly impacts inventory availability, pricing accuracy, operational efficiency, and overall customer satisfaction. This role acts as a key link between Purchasing, Warehouse, Sales, and Customer Service functions, ensuring products move efficiently through the supply chain while supporting strategic sourcing and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing
- Review sales history and forecasts to determine suggested order quantities
- Order stock items from domestic vendors, Olympia Tile, and international suppliers
- Purchase setting materials, tools, and miscellaneous operational supplies as needed
- Enter special order tickets and customer acknowledgements accurately and efficiently
- Set up new part numbers within the ERP system and coordinate updates with the warehouse team
- Maintain product costs, item status, and packing information within the ERP system
- Maintain strong vendor relationships while supporting product development initiatives with Sales and Marketing teams
Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Oversee inventory management activities including discontinued inventory, stock levels, and warehouse bin assignments
- Support inventory accuracy and operational efficiency across warehouse operations
Receiving
- Calculate and receive products into the ERP system at landed cost
- Verify supplier invoice pricing and coordinate documentation with Accounts Payable for processing
Shipping & Logistics
- Coordinate shipping activities for products purchased from international suppliers
- Research, negotiate, and manage freight rates and freight forwarding relationships
- Assist with satellite warehouse transfers and logistics coordination
Pricing & Product Management
- Establish pricing for stock items in collaboration with Sales and Marketing teams
- Coordinate the development and maintenance of price lists for stock and special-order items
- Manage product announcements including new product launches and obsolete inventory communication
- Maintain vendor files, cost sheets, and pricing documentation within company systems
Management & Leadership
- Oversee Purchasing Department operations including payroll administration, employee reviews, and system processing
- Support the development and implementation of departmental programs, goals, and operational objectives
Customer Service & Sales Support
- Communicate ETAs and product updates to Customer Service teams as required
- Determine pricing and approve sales for out-of-state distributors
- Source out-of-stock and special-order items to support customer needs
- Provide technical product support and product recommendations when required
What You Bring
- You bring 5 -7 years of purchasing, inventory, or supply chain experience within a distribution, wholesale, building materials, or related environment
- College diploma in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Operations, or a related field is preferred
- Strong understanding of inventory planning, forecasting, vendor management, freight coordination, and purchasing operations
- Experience managing domestic and international suppliers, including import logistics and freight forwarding coordination
- Proven leadership experience overseeing teams, operational processes, and departmental performance
- Strong analytical, organizational, and negotiation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Experience working with ERP systems; experience with FACTS or similar systems is considered a strong asset
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to collaborate across Purchasing, Warehouse, Sales, and Customer Service teams
- High attention to detail with a strong focus on operational accuracy, pricing integrity, and inventory management
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while balancing strategic planning and day-to-day operational demands
