Job Summary

he Purchasing & Logistics Coordinator reports to the HRGA/SCM Director and is responsible for executing and coordinating purchasing, procurement, logistics, inventory, and supplier management activities that support SST’s manufacturing operations.

The position serves the primary coordinator between suppliers, transportation providers, warehouse operators, production personnel, and internal stakeholders to ensure materials, equipment, and services are obtained in a timely and cost-effective manner. The role is approximately 50% Purchasing and Procurement and 50% Logistics and Inventory Coordinator with responsibilities adjusted as business needs and workload demands require.

Duties

  • Purchasing and Procurement

· Create and process purchase requisitions and purchase orders for raw materials, packaging materials, MRO supplies, equipment, and services.

· Source and obtain quotations from vendors and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and service levels.

· Evaluate supplier pricing, lead times, delivery performance, and quality metrics.

· Coordinate with department managers to determine purchasing requirements and forecast future material needs.

· Maintain supplier records, contracts, pricing agreements, and purchasing documentation.

· Track open purchase orders and proactively communicate status updates to internal stakeholders.

· Resolve purchasing discrepancies, invoice issues, receiving variances, and vendor-related concerns.

· Assist with vendor qualification, onboarding, and performance evaluations.

· Monitor inventory levels and initiate replenishment activities to prevent production interruptions.

· Support annual budgeting and cost reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations and purchasing efficiencies.

· Review and approve purchasing documentation in accordance with company policies and procedures.

· Maintain procurement data and records within ERP systems including SAP or similar platforms.

Logistics and Inventory Coordination

· Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments with carriers, freight brokers, warehouses, and customers.

· Schedule deliveries and monitor transportation activities to ensure timely receipt and shipment of products.

· Prepare and maintain shipping, receiving, transportation, and customs-related documentation when applicable.

· Track shipments and resolve transportation issues, delays, shortages, or damaged goods.

· Coordinate with third-party logistics providers and freight carriers to optimize delivery performance and transportation costs.

· Monitor inventory transactions and maintain accurate inventory records within ERP systems.

· Assist with cycle counts, physical inventories, and reconciliation of inventory discrepancies.

· Support warehouse and production personnel with inventory availability and material movement requirements.

· Prepare logistics and inventory performance reports as requested by management.

· Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable transportation regulations.

General Responsibilities

· Support continuous improvement initiatives within supply chain operations.

· Develop and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers, customers, logistics partners, and internal departments.

· Protect confidential company and supplier information.

· Participate in audits and provide supporting documentation as required.

· Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· Associate’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Logistics, Purchasing, Accounting, or related field required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

· Minimum 2-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, logistics, inventory control, or supply chain operations.

· Experience working within a manufacturing environment preferred.

· Basic understanding of chemical manufacturing products and processes preferred.

· Ability to handle highly confidential information.

· Ability to travel domestically as business needs require.

· Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

· Experience utilizing ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics, or equivalent.

· Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in a supply chain role within a chemical manufacturing company.

· SAP purchasing and inventory management experience.

· Korean/English bilingual proficiency.

· Experience supporting import/export activities.

· Inventory control and warehouse coordination experience.

· Start-up manufacturing experience.

Physical Demands

· Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.

· Regular and consistent attendance at the office.

· Ability to travel around the Houston area and other locations as required.

· Ability to frequently be stationary and sit for extended periods.

· Ability to occasionally stand and walk short distances.

· Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items weighing up to 25 pounds.

· Ability to enter text or data into a computer using a traditional keyboard.

· This position requires on-site presence with occasional travel for meetings or company events.

· Must be comfortable working in an open-concept office environment.

· May require periodic visits to supplier, warehouse, logistics, or customer locations.

· Occasional after-hours communication may be required to support transportation and supplier activities.

Pay: $58,000.00 – $63,000.00 per year
