Full job description
MagTec Alaska is seeking a highly experienced Supply Chain & Procurement Manager to lead and optimize procurement, vendor management, and logistics operations across multiple Alaska locations. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, improving purchasing efficiency, managing freight and transportation logistics, and establishing scalable processes to support oilfield operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role requiring both strategic thinking and operational execution in a remote, logistics-heavy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
- Develop and execute procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and availability of materials, equipment, and services
- Source and establish relationships with vendors across Alaska and the Lower 48
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service agreements to leverage company-wide buying power
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, standardization, and vendor consolidation
Logistics & Freight Management (CRITICAL for Alaska)
- Manage inbound and outbound freight, including coordination to remote and North Slope locations
- Evaluate and optimize freight providers (air, sea, trucking, barge)
- Develop cost-effective logistics strategies considering Alaska’s seasonal and remote challenges
- Monitor freight performance, costs, and timelines
Process Development & Systems
- Design and implement procurement processes, policies, and controls
- Improve purchasing workflows, inventory management, and tracking systems
- Ensure consistency across multiple locations (Anchorage, Kenai, North Slope, etc.)
- Establish reporting metrics (cost savings, vendor performance, lead times)
Vendor & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and service providers
- Evaluate vendor performance and ensure compliance with contract terms
- Support operations teams with sourcing critical and time-sensitive materials
Leadership & Team Development
· Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team to support company-wide operations
· Train team members on procurement best practices, systems, and processes
· Establish clear roles, expectations, and performance standards across the purchasing function
· Drive accountability and continuous improvement within the team
End-to-End Purchasing Ownership
- Oversee and optimize the full procurement lifecycle from purchase request through purchase order (PO) closure
- Ensure efficient processing, tracking, and completion of all purchase requests and orders
- Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements across the purchasing workflow
- Ensure accuracy, compliance, and proper documentation throughout the procurement process
- Collaborate with operations and finance to ensure timely delivery, invoicing, and closeout
Qualifications
- 2+ years of procurement, supply chain, or logistics experience (oilfield, industrial, or remote operations preferred)
- Strong experience managing vendors, contracts, and negotiations
- Experience with freight/logistics in Alaska or remote environments strongly preferred
- Proven ability to build processes and improve operational efficiency
- Experience supporting multi-site operations
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred
Preferred Experience (Alaska / Oilfield Specific)
- North Slope or remote camp logistics
- Oil & gas, construction, or industrial support services
- Experience with seasonal access, weather delays, and remote freight planning
