The Ocean Pricing Coordinator will take ownership of ocean freight pricing and inside sales support, managing customer quotation activity from initial request through to final offer submission.

This role is responsible for preparing competitive and commercially sound customer offers, leading RFQ pricing activity, negotiating with ocean carriers and trucking companies, and supporting Sales in converting pricing opportunities into secured business. Working closely with Sales, Operations and the wider Crane Worldwide global network, the successful candidate will act as a key commercial pricing contact for customers, prospects and overseas partners while maintaining strong market awareness, margin focus and service quality.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Own ocean pricing requests and inside sales quotation activity from initial enquiry through to final customer offer, ensuring timely, accurate and commercially competitive responses.
  • Communicate Crane Worldwide’s ocean freight capabilities, service options and value-added solutions clearly and commercially to clients.
  • Negotiate directly with ocean carriers, trucking companies, co-loaders and overseas agents to secure competitive rates, transit options, validity periods and service levels.
  • Create clear and commercially accurate customer offers, including ocean freight rates, trucking costs, surcharges, local charges, transit times, routings, validity dates and margin considerations.
  • Analyse pricing requests, rate structures and customer requirements to recommend the most competitive and commercially viable ocean freight solution.
  • Partner closely with Sales to drive inside sales activity, follow up on offers, clarify customer requirements, manage pricing conversations and maximise conversion of pricing opportunities into secured business.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, carriers and internal stakeholders to support repeat business, service consistency and profitable growth.
  • Monitor ocean market conditions, carrier rate changes, capacity, rate validity and trade lane developments to ensure pricing remains current, competitive and profitable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 2 years’ freight forwarding experience, preferably gained in a role with direct ownership of ocean pricing, inside sales, RFQ management or commercial pricing support within freight forwarding or logistics.
  • Hands-on experience owning customer offers, managing RFQs, preparing quotations, negotiating rates and supporting Sales teams through inside sales pricing activity is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of ocean freight pricing structures, carrier services, trucking costs, trade lanes, surcharges, local charges, transit times and market pricing dynamics.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare professional customer offers and clearly explain pricing rationale, ocean freight options, trucking costs, rate validity, commercial assumptions and service recommendations.
  • Commercially minded with confidence taking ownership of pricing decisions, managing customer-facing inside sales conversations and building positive relationships with current and prospective clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to own inside sales opportunities through RFQ management, carrier and trucking negotiations, quote preparation, customer follow-up and commercially focused solution development.
