Caddo Sustainable Timberlands, LP (Caddo) is seeking a candidate to serve as President ideally located in Lufkin, TX and reporting to the Board of Directors. The successful candidate will lead a best-in-class timberland management business focused on stewardship, investor returns, and future growth. The position will collaborate with the Board of Directors, internal staff including the Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Business Development, external timberland management staff, and all stakeholders to perform the duties of President.

Caddo is a long-term institutionally owned platform company currently owning ~904,000 acres of commercial timberlands in east Texas and west Louisiana focused on exceptional stewardship, sustainable management and financial performance. The quality, size, and location of the assets provide excellent exposure to timber, real estate, conservation, oil and gas, mineral, renewable energy and other markets that drive Caddo’s current and future value.
Caddo’s lineage dates back to the 1890’s, when T.L.L. Temple established his first sawmill in Diboll, Texas and began acquiring timberlands. Today, the company and the legacy timberland assets are owned by three institutional investors sharing a commitment to long-term timberland ownership as part of a diversified investment portfolio. Caddo operates with a current team of 10 employees responsible for business and financial operations and works closely with its third‑party property manager, TTG Forestry Services, LLC, which oversees all on‑the‑ground forestry and land‑use activities across the portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement business and timberland management strategies that generate exceptional results and drive long-term, sustainable asset value
- Drive development of annual fiscal and operational budgets and long-term plans that position Caddo for short- and long-term success and report Caddo’s quarterly and annual performance to the Board of Directors
- Work closely with third-party property management team, providing operational and financial oversight and ensuring business continuity
- Drive development and implementation of comprehensive real estate strategies that include land stratification, marketed sales, development analysis and execution, unsolicited sales, and strategic tract acquisitions
- Develop modeling protocols and practices to facilitate negotiations with supply agreement counterparties and other delivered and stumpage sale transactions
- Lead and facilitate Caddo’s environmental, social, and governance programs focused on safety, stewardship, and community outreach
- Create a workplace culture that attracts, develops, and retains high quality employees
- Implement best practices relating to operational efficiency and effectiveness, genetic deployment, growth and yield, sustainability, biodiversity, and other targeted objectives
- Develop and foster productive relationships with neighbors, communities, industry partners, and trade associations
- Advocate for Caddo and timberland industry interests at the region, state, and national level
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with demonstrated success implementing and driving change
- Twenty years of relevant industry experience including experience in organizational and team leadership roles
- Bachelor’s degree in forestry or closely related field with an advanced degree in forestry or business administration preferred
- Demonstrated ability to engender confidence from internal and external stakeholders while creating a positive, collaborative working environment
- Ability to develop strategic vision, alongside the Board, and implement plans to achieve long-term results
- Strong financial orientation, sound business acumen, and ability to execute to achieve annual KPI’s
- Strong project management, negotiating, critical thinking, and entrepreneurial skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of timberland asset management, including silviculture operations, harvest operations, market analyses, freight logistics, long-term-planning, forest inventory, and applied operations research
- Demonstrated knowledge of alternative business opportunities, including recreational licensing, real estate, renewable energy, climate solutions, and other surface use alternatives
- Ability to effectively manage multiple, rapidly changing priorities in a stressful environment
- Strong technical and analytical aptitude
