Paratransit Pace Drivers Jobs in Chicago, Illinois, USA at DS Bus Lines
Our Pace Paratransit drivers are responsible for transporting passengers from their pickup point to their destination in a timely and safe manner. Using a smaller bus with a wheelchair lift to successfully transport people, performing pre-trip inspections and keeping their vehicle within DOT regulations are the most important tasks of the driver.
Training is paid at $18.50/hour, then $23.00 once training is complete. Our Pace service runs 24/7 and we are currently hiring for 1st and overnight shifts. SCR is a union environment where we do shift bids twice per year.
Responsibility Profile:
Transport clients to and from destinations.
Arrive at destinations on schedule.
Fulfill administrative needs, like office pickups.
Research and plan for traffic, construction, and weather delays.
Use navigation applications to determine the best route.
Always interact with clients professionally.
Ensure that the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use.
Arrange for vehicle repairs as needed.
Keep mileage records and repair records up to date.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Five (5) years of driving experience with no breaks/gaps and no more than 1 moving violation in that time period.
Candidates cannot have any DUI/DWI on their driving record.
Must be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical.
A pre-employment background check and drug screen are required.
Must be at least 23 years of age.
Valid Driver’s License.
