Position Overview

Responsible for leading employees to ensure customer satisfaction by moving all shipments on time and damage free while observing regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures

Essential Job Duties / Responsibilities

Foster a safe working environment

Working with internal stakeholders

Provide overall direction and support to internal stakeholders, including but not limited to selection, development, assigning daily tasks, performance management, mentoring, cross-training and other supervisory activities.

Plan and communicate daily loads to ensure freight is picked-up and delivered on time and damage-free

Communicate with contractors/drivers and account managers, to ensure the customer and company’s needs are met

Plan daily manpower needs to ensure customer’s freight is delivered and picked-up timely and damage free

Communicate with dispatch at various service centres and with freight handlers to coordinate the movement of trailers and freight

Communicate with other departments within FXF as required

Coordinate the distribution of inbound, outbound and hub loads to achieve cut time compliance.

Monitor and ensure MBGs are delivered on time

Dispatch deliveries and pick-ups to ensure they are completed on time

Communicate with service centres throughout the line haul process to ensure freight remains in cycle

Monitor and analyze all opportunities to cut costs and improve efficiencies

Perform administrative functions such as printing delivery receipts, manifest shipments freight billing, tracing shipments, etc.

Report line haul activity including percentage of trailer cube, trailer weights, delay times, etc.

Monitor actual performance data and gather information for reporting

Identify freight moving at incorrect weight and classification

Ensure all OS&D exceptions are identified and processed properly

Assist other internal stakeholders as required

Conduct daily pre-shift meetings with reporting teams

Implement company policies

Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures

Perform other duties as required

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Post-Secondary diploma or two (2) years of directly related work experience

Bilingual (English/French) preferred; required in Quebec

Three (3) years of work experience in warehouse/dock/transportation

Previous leadership experience

Thorough knowledge of LTL industry, DOT rules and regulations

Ability to perform and/or learn to perform freight handler duties

Valid forklift certificate

Load planning and dispatching knowledge

Excellent interpersonal skills, as well as, strong ability to coach, persuade, collaborate, and partner with all levels within the organization

Professional verbal, reading and written communication skills

Strong time management, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, including excellent attention to detail

Ability to manage competing and changing priorities

Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint and Outlook)

Ability/willingness to learn new applications, software, systems, and equipment as required

Self-motivated to learn new skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

Hours may vary due to operational need

Flexibility and adaptability to working environment

Dock environment; exposure to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, noise
