The Operations Manager is responsible for the effective oversight of daily transportation operations, including the direct management of Class A CDL drivers. This position ensures efficient routing, driver performance, compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations, and high standards of safety and customer service. The Operations Manager works closely with dispatch, fleet, and support teams to improve operational workflows, control costs, and meet customer and company expectations. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to continuous improvement and operational excellence. In this role, you will oversee daily operations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in our logistics processes while maintaining our commitment to safety and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Ability to work flexible hours to support a 24/7 operation, including occasional weekends and holidays.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred but not required.
Proven ability to manage and support Class A drivers, including schedules, performance, safety, and compliance.
Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve operational challenges efficiently and effectively.
Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with experience in coaching, mentoring, and developing employees.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and external stakeholders.
Strategic thinker with the ability to set long-term goals and develop actionable plans to achieve them.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives, fostering a culture of operational excellence and accountability.
Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in transportation or logistics operations, including direct management of Class A CDL drivers.
Prior leadership experience managing frontline staff or driver teams in a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with temperature-controlled freight or food distribution logistics preferred.
Experience with project management, process improvement, and data-driven decision-making.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field (preferred).
Proven ability to manage budgets, develop cost-saving initiatives, and optimize resource allocation.
Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA compliance and safety standards.
Proficiency in business management systems (Truck Mate, Samsara) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
