POSITION: OPERATIONS MANAGER
Requirements and Skills
Fleet & Maintenance Optimization
Proven hands-on experience in performing comprehensive mechanical repairs on semi-trucks.
Minimum ability but not limited to:
Ability to independently conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire changes, brake replacements, and wheel hub repairs.
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing air conditioning issues, addressing air leaks, and managing oil and coolant leaks.
Expertise in maintaining and repairing Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) systems, ensuring proper operation and compliance with emission standards.
Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues in a timely manner, ensuring minimal downtime.
Commitment to maintaining a high standard of safety and quality in all repair activities, in compliance with DOT standards.
Strong negotiation skills with parts suppliers, and fuel providers to achieve cost-effective pricing.
Thorough understanding of DOT compliance requirements and safety inspection protocols.
Freight Brokering & Load Management
Ability to develop and manage direct relationships with shippers to reduce broker reliance and enhance profit margins.
Ability to negotiate premium freight contracts and dedicated lanes.
Ability to utilize load boards, freight marketplaces, and digital platforms to secure high-quality loads.
Ability to optimize load planning and scheduling to maximize efficiency and reduce deadhead miles.
Driver Management & Support
Ability to train and mentor drivers on best practices related to fuel efficiency, load securement, and regulatory compliance.
Ability to develop and implement driver retention strategies to minimize turnover.
Valid CDL (class A) with the capacity to serve as a backup driver when necessary, ensuring continuity in operations.
Cost Reduction & Efficiency Improvements
Ability to implement fuel-saving strategies, such as utilizing fuel cards, and route optimization techniques.
Ability to monitor and interpret key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operational expenses and revenue generation.
Ability to operate technology including Transportation Management Systems (TMS), GPS tracking systems, and Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) to enhance overall operational efficiency.
Business Growth & Strategic Development
Ability to identify and capitalize on new revenue opportunities in the flatbed trucking and specialized freight sectors.
Ability to expand operations through dedicated contracts and securing specialized loads (e.g., oversized, hazardous materials).
Strategic mindset to align daily operations with long-term company growth and financial objectives.
General Qualifications
Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required – ability to operate semi-trucks as needed.
Experience in trucking MECHANICAL REPAIR.
Ability to conduct operations management, with a understanding of logistics, dispatching, and fleet oversight.
Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety compliance, and industry standards.
Must have communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Examples of Work
MECHANICAL REPAIR on all equipment (Semi-trucks, trailers, etc).
Independently perform routine maintenance (Examples: oil changes, tire changes, brake replacements, wheel hub repairs) on semi-trucks.
