We’re looking for an experienced Operations Coordinator to join a well-established and supportive operations team, managing import and export shipments from start to finish.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a background in freight forwarding or logistics who enjoys taking ownership, working with precision, and delivering exceptional customer service. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm, with the opportunity to transition to a permanent role for the right candidate.
The Role
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, your key responsibilities will include:
- Coordinating import and export shipments from booking through to final delivery
- Liaising with customers, suppliers, carriers and overseas offices to ensure smooth shipment execution
- Ensuring compliance with Australian Customs regulations and internal Quality Management System (QMS) procedures
- Organising transport and monitoring shipments to meet customer service standards and KPIs
- Maintaining accurate shipment records, tracking information and system updates
- Processing invoicing within required timeframes
- Reviewing shipment files to ensure accurate costing and profitability
- Proactively communicating with customers regarding shipment updates, delays or changes
- Completing company collections using a company vehicle
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience in freight forwarding or logistics (essential)
- Cargo wise experience
- A solid understanding of export operations and documentation
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and freight management systems
- The ability to prioritise competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- A proactive, customer-focused approach with excellent problem-solving skills
- A current Australian Driver’s Licence
- Dangerous Goods knowledge (advantageous)
