About The Role

The Operational Control Centre (OCC) Controller will safely, efficiently and effectively control the operation of Subway train services in compliance with SPT’s policies, procedures and legislation. They will maintain competencies and participate in the development of modern working practices to enhance subway service performance. The OCC Controller will support the delivery of new systems embedded within the subway modernisation project and take a proactive role in the provision of the Subway service.

About

You

  • Working knowledge of incident response and a good understanding of customer service principles.
  • In-depth understanding of train operating principles and railway Rules, Regulations and Emergency Procedures (desirable).
  • Understanding of the safety critical requirements of a light railway system and multiple rail control software (desirable).
  • Experience of working within an Operational Control Centre and liaising with senior staff.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience of using communication systems in an operational environment.
  • Highly motivated and able to contribute positively to improve ways of working and embrace evolving changes and technologies.
  • Educated to standard grade level in English, Maths and Arithmetic or equivalent. A transport industry professional qualification is desirable.

Full time hours will be 35 hours per week, working a maximum 5/7 shift pattern. The role may require working outside normal office hours to support operational requirements.

Based at the Operational Control Centre, Robert Street, Glasgow.

This position falls into the high‑risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and is subject to for‑cause testing procedures. You will also undertake aptitude testing as part of the recruitment process.
