Position Summary
The Ocean Freight Supervisor is responsible for overseeing customer service operations for ocean import and export shipments. This role ensures efficient shipment execution, maintains excellent customer relationships, supervises the customer service team, and coordinates with internal departments and overseas partners to deliver high-quality logistics solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Business Administration, International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the Ocean Freight or Freight Forwarding industry.
- Strong understanding of import/export regulations and customs clearance procedures.
- Excellent problem-solving and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Good command of written and spoken English.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise customer service operations for ocean freight shipments, including both import and export.
- Coordinate with customers, shipping lines, overseas agents, customs brokers, and internal operations teams to ensure smooth shipment execution.
- Review and verify shipping documentation, including Bills of Lading, Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, and other shipping documents.
- Monitor shipment status and provide timely updates to customers.
- Advise customers on import/export procedures, shipping requirements, and customs clearance processes.
- Resolve shipment-related issues, including delays, documentation discrepancies, cargo claims, and operational exceptions.
- Manage key customer accounts and maintain strong long-term business relationships.
- Supervise, coach, and mentor junior customer service staff to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
- Work closely with the Sales team to provide logistics solutions, quotations, and service support for customers.
- Prepare operational reports, KPI reports, and customer service performance reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and international shipping regulations.
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
