Savino Del Bene, a global leader in international logistics and freight forwarding, is seeking a highly motivated Ocean Freight Procurement Manager to oversee the Far East – NEUR trade lane. This position will be based at our offices in Shanghai or Shenzhen, China.

SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

Implement procurement strategies for specific trade routes, continuously monitor market trends, and negotiate with shipping lines to achieve the best solution in terms of cost, service, space, and reliability in line with SDB’s strategy and guidelines.

To build and maintain carrier relationships, steer carrier performance management, and execute Corporate & Regional matters related to Ocean Freight Procurement/Product Standard & Governance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Procurement Strategy & Allocation Management for the assigned trade lane
  • Rate negotiations with all carriers for the assigned trade lane
  • Participate in tenders for the acquisition of long-term volume customers
  • Collaborate in the development of pricing strategies for the assigned trade lane based on SDB’s objectives
  • In charge of buying rates (market, contract, promo) completeness and maintenance
  • Carrier Relationship Management
  • Carrier Performance Management according to Corporate and local guidelines
  • Setting up a pricing structure for Sales & Operation
  • Maintain contacts with foreign agents and branches for the negotiation of the rates (+ ancillaries) services at origin/destination
  • Analyze the performance of the different carriers and prepare the related reports to be presented to the Management to define the score
  • Develop and maintain databases to enable quick responses to specific network queries
  • Identify strategic partners in the market
  • Support the Local Capacity Management Team in the management and optimization of capacity in the daily business.
  • Support the Country Tender Management Team with proposed selling rates and any other rate-related questions to allow efficient bidding for new business
  • Support Corporate Ocean Freight Procurement on any local issues with Carriers.
  • Provide inputs to Corporate Ocean Freight Procurement on local buying rates, consolidation opportunities, and capacity constraints.
  • Any other job-related tasks as assigned by the superior.

TYPICAL WORK SITUATION:

In the office; use of PCs, tablets, and smartphones; full-time hours; telephone and external meetings with suppliers; internal alignments with Sales, Customer Service, and Operations; possible transfers.

TOOLS TO BE USED/needed qualifications:

  • Microsoft Office package, Excel in particular
  • Main platforms and management of Trade Procurement services
  • CRM

REPORTING LINES & collaboration parties:

  • Hierarchically reports to Regional Director/s or Regional EVP/s or Regional CEO/s and dotted line to Corporate Ocean Freight Procurement Manager – NEUR Trade
  • Collaborates with Ocean Freight Managers, Sales Director, Sales, Customer Service, Country/Branch Manager
  • Externally, it relates to customers, suppliers, and representative bodies
