About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Ocean Operations Specialist to join our Ocean Freight Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing international ocean shipments, ensuring smooth execution of transport operations, maintaining excellent customer service, and coordinating effectively with carriers, overseas agents, customers, and internal departments.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate FCL and LCL ocean freight shipments from booking to final delivery;
- Processing of bookings relating to all parties involved (agents, shipping lines, customs broker, carriers);
- Maintain a positive relationship with customers and suppliers;
- Monitor shipment progress and proactively resolve operational issues;
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of shipping and customs-related documentation;
- Coordinate with carriers regarding bookings, schedules, equipment availability, and shipment updates;
- Verify and control operational costs and supplier invoices;
- Maintain accurate data within the company's systems (TMS + internal reports);
- Support continuous improvement of operational processes and service quality;
- Negotiating tariffs and managing tariff calculations through different ports;
- Accurate and timely verification, invoicing and closure of all managed files to ensure operational KPIs are achieved;
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years experience in Ocean Freight Import Operations within a freight forwarding company;
- Solid understanding of international ocean freight processes, including FCL, LCL, Incoterms, and shipping documentation;
- Good knowledge of carrier operations and ocean transport networks;
- Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Cargowise is a plus)
- Excellent organizational and prioritization skills;
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, team work and communication skills;
- Good attention to detail and commitment to service quality
