Job Description

As an Ocean Freight Forwarder, you will play a crucial role in the transportation and logistics industry by coordinating the movement of goods for clients across international and domestic borders. You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the shipping process, from booking cargo space to ensuring timely delivery, while adhering to regulatory requirements and maintaining excellent customer service.

How You Will Contribute

Cargo Booking and Coordination: Arrange transportation for cargo shipments by sea, rail, or road, based on client requirements and budget constraints. Coordinate with carriers, shipping lines, trucking companies, and other service providers to secure space and schedule shipments.

Documentation Management: Prepare and manage all necessary documentation for customs clearance, import/export compliance, and freight tracking. Ensure accuracy and completeness of paperwork to facilitate smooth movement of goods and avoid delays.

Customs Compliance: Stay informed about customs regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements to ensure compliance with import/export laws. Coordinate with customs brokers to facilitate clearance of shipments and resolve any issues that may arise.

Customer Service: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing timely updates, resolving inquiries, and addressing concerns throughout the shipping process. Maintain strong relationships with customers to foster loyalty and repeat business.

Supply Chain Coordination: Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and other stakeholders to optimize supply chain efficiency and minimize transportation costs. Coordinate multi-modal shipments and manage inventory flow as needed.

Freight Rate Negotiation: Negotiate spot rates with carriers and vendors to secure competitive pricing and maximize profitability.

Risk Management: Identify potential risks and hazards associated with transportation and logistics operations, such as cargo damage, theft, or regulatory compliance issues. Implement risk mitigation strategies and insurance coverage as necessary.

Technology Utilization: Utilize freight management software, tracking systems, and communication tools to streamline processes, track shipments in real-time, and provide visibility to clients. Leverage technology to improve efficiency and accuracy in managing freight operations.

Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and service enhancement within the freight forwarding operations. Implement best practices and standards to drive continuous improvement and maintain competitiveness.

What You Will Bring

Previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or related industry preferred.

Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs procedures, Incoterms and documentation requirements.

Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and work effectively under pressure.

Proficiency in freight management software, MS Office Suite, and other relevant technology tools.

Fluency in Italian and English.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling documentation and data.
