Ontime Logistics is a well-established, family-run transport business specialising in UK container logistics. As part of our continued growth and the opening of our new site in Tilbury, we’re looking to recruit an experienced Night Transport Operator to strengthen our operations team.

This is far more than a monitoring role. You’ll be responsible for keeping our night operation moving, solving problems in real time and ensuring our customers receive the level of service they expect.

What you’ll be doing

  • Monitoring vehicle and driver progress throughout the night using our Transport Management System and tracking software.
  • Managing delays, breakdowns and operational issues as they happen.
  • Maintaining regular communication with drivers, customers and ports.
  • Providing proactive ETA updates and resolving service issues.
  • Completing VBS bookings and transport administration.
  • Supporting compliance with Drivers’ Hours and Working Time regulations.
  • Producing a detailed operational handover for the day planning team.
  • Working closely with planners to maximise fleet utilisation and customer service.

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience within a Transport Planning or Traffic Office environment.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Good geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
  • Confident using Transport Management Systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Container transport experience would be advantageous but isn’t essential.
