About the Opportunity:
The Medical Documentation Clerk is responsible for managing referral and clinical documentation workflows within a centralized healthcare operations center. This role ensures patient records and referral documentation are complete, accurate, and accessible to support coordinated specialty care, directly impacting timely patient access and care quality.
Responsibilities:
- Obtain clinical documentation from network providers and follow up on missing or incomplete records.
- Review chart notes for clarity, completeness, legibility, and compliance before associating them with patient records and referrals.
- Upload, index, label, and maintain clinical documentation using approved healthcare systems.
- Research claims, referral information, clinical history, and chart documentation for referral management.
- Process secure messaging requests, provider communications, outbound calls, and other patient support tasks.
- Track requests, follow-up activities, and outcomes to maintain accountability and support quality metrics.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, privacy, security, and healthcare policies while delivering professional customer service.
- Collaborate with Military Treatment Facilities, providers, and internal departments to facilitate efficient referral and documentation workflows.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 6 months healthcare administrative experience.
- Strong customer service and telephone communication skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications including Teams, Excel, and Outlook.
- Preferred: Experience with MHS GENESIS, CXOne, or healthcare call center software.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
- Hourly pay range: USD 22 to USD 23.
- Compensation includes medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.
