Position Summary

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Materials Planner to support our Springdale manufacturing facility. This position is responsible for purchasing raw materials that meet established quality and cost standards while coordinating shipments to ensure materials arrive on time and production continues without interruption.

The ideal candidate has experience in purchasing, production planning, logistics, or warehouse operations and can respond effectively to changing production and customer demands.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze raw-material inventory, production requirements, and changing customer demand to determine appropriate order quantities.
  • Release purchase orders while supporting production schedules and inventory objectives.
  • Coordinate inbound shipments and delivery schedules to ensure materials arrive when needed.
  • Expedite or delay purchased materials based on production demand, customer requirements, and the availability of related components.
  • Schedule freight routes and review freight invoices for approval.
  • Assist with forecasting raw-material costs used in establishing standard costs.
  • Monitor tooling conditions and initiate replacement actions when necessary.
  • Coordinate engineering changes between the design team and suppliers.
  • Ensure suppliers have current drawings, specifications, and revision levels for all applicable parts.
  • Participate in competitive quoting, cost-reduction initiatives, and continuous-improvement activities.
  • Coordinate and track supplier cost-saving ideas.
  • Prepare and communicate supplier performance scorecards.
  • Assist Supply Management with supplier selection, performance management, and supplier-information tracking.
  • Process approved purchase orders for non-production materials and tooling.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
  • Complete applicable customer-specific requirements.
  • Participate on project teams or permanent teams addressing operational issues and special projects.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all applicable quality, environmental, safety, and IATF 16949 requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One to three years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Buying or purchasing, production or materials planning, logistics planning, warehouse operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using ERP or inventory management systems; AS400/CMS experience is preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with suppliers and internal customers.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Working knowledge of die-cast, plastic-molded, and screw-machine components.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education or training in Supply Management, Industrial Purchasing, Logistics, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) or Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM).
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience coordinating engineering changes with suppliers.
  • Knowledge of supplier scorecards, cost-reduction programs, and inventory-control practices.
