Calling all former and transitioning U.S. Coast Guard Marine Inspectors:
We are a major international maritime administration looking for a highly technical Regional Compliance Manager to oversee deep-draft commercial vessel inspections across the Northeast territory.
To save everyone time, I want to be completely transparent about the profile we need. This is not a tactical, small-boat, or law enforcement role. We are strictly looking for individuals whose careers are rooted in the USCG Prevention Department. If you spent your career conducting deep-dive engineering and structural audits on foreign-flagged oil tankers and cargo ships, this is the role for you.
What You Will Do:
- Plan and independently conduct safety and security Flag oversight inspections on massive, international-trading commercial vessels.
- Lead formal Marine Casualty Investigations to determine the root cause of mechanical, structural, or operational failures.
- Coordinate seamlessly with USCG Sector/District staffs, Port State Control, and Class society surveyors regarding vessel compliance.
- Audit Safety Management Systems (SMS) and issue dispensations when immediate deficiency corrections are not viable.
The Non-Negotiables (Must-Haves):
- A strong U.S. Coast Guard background strictly within the Prevention Department (e.g., MST, Marine Inspector, or Prevention Officer).
- You MUST possess a full complement of the following inspection qualifications:
- Port State Control (PSC) Examiner
- Foreign Freight Vessel Examiner (FFVE)
- Foreign Tank Vessel Examiner (FTVE / TVE)
- Note: Foreign Chemical Tanker and Gas Carrier Inspector qualifications are a massive plus.
- Deep, authoritative working knowledge of International maritime conventions (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, and MLC).
- Physically capable of boarding deep-draft vessels at sea and in port, including climbing pilot ladders in adverse weather.
The Details:
- Compensation: $120,000 – $125,000 Base Salary + comprehensive benefits package.
- Location: Remote. You will manage your own regional travel across the Northeast ports.
- Training: The first 6 to 8 weeks of employment will consist of a fully paid, continuous on-site training program at our headquarters in Dulles, VA.
