Role Description The Marine Agent – Operations Coordinator is a full-time, on-site role based in Montreal, QC. This position coordinates vessel calls, communicates with ship owners, charterers, and terminal operators, and ensures that port operations follow local regulations and customer requirements. Daily tasks include preparing and managing documentation, monitoring vessel schedules, arranging services such as pilotage and towage, and updating stakeholders on operational status. The role also involves handling customer inquiries, supporting financial and disbursement processes, and identifying opportunities to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills to review operational data, vessel schedules, and cost estimates, and to support effective decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills for clear, professional interaction with customers, port authorities, and internal teams in English (French language skills are an asset).
- Customer service skills to respond promptly to inquiries, manage expectations, and maintain positive long-term relationships with clients.
- Sales-related skills to recognize business opportunities, support agency service promotion, and contribute to client retention and growth.
- Basic finance skills to assist with disbursement accounts, cost tracking, and accurate reporting of port-related expenses.
- Previous experience in maritime, logistics, or port operations is highly beneficial.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with standard office software and digital communication tools.
- Ability to work on-site, including port attendance
