About the Opportunity:

We are partnering with a leading international logistics provider to appoint a Managing Director – Air & Ocean Freight China. This is a high-impact executive leadership position responsible for driving growth, operational excellence, customer engagement, and strategic expansion across one of the world's most important logistics markets.

The successful candidate will lead the China business, oversee P&L performance, and develop a sustainable growth strategy across Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Contract Logistics, and associated supply chain solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the China Air & Ocean Freight business.
  • Own full P&L responsibility and deliver profitable growth across all product lines.
  • Develop and execute commercial strategies to increase market share and revenue.
  • Lead, coach, and develop senior management teams across sales, operations, finance, and customer service.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers, carriers, partners, and industry stakeholders.
  • Drive operational excellence, service quality, and productivity improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, corporate governance, and industry standards.
  • Manage and optimize the branch and regional network across China.
  • Identify acquisition, partnership, and business development opportunities.
  • Work closely with global and regional leadership teams to align objectives and execute strategic initiatives.

Candidate Profile:

Required Experience

  • 15+ years of experience within international freight forwarding and logistics.
  • Significant leadership experience in Air Freight and Ocean Freight operations.
  • Proven success managing large-scale logistics organizations in China.
  • Demonstrated P&L ownership with a strong record of revenue and profitability growth.
  • Strong commercial background with expertise in key trade lanes and customer sectors.
  • Experience leading multicultural and geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong understanding of China's freight forwarding and logistics market.

Preferred Background

  • Current or former Managing Director, Country Manager, General Manager, Vice President, or Regional Director within a leading logistics provider.
  • Experience with multinational freight forwarders such as DHL Global Forwarding, Kuehne+Nagel, DSV, DB Schenker, CEVA, Expeditors, C.H. Robinson, Nippon Express, Bolloré, Geodis, or similar organizations.
  • Strong network across carriers, strategic customers, and industry stakeholders.
