Education
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate, or equivalent experience.
Work Setting
- Various locations.
Tasks
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy.
- Load and unload goods.
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes.
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
- Oversee vehicle condition and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment.
- Perform pre-trip, en‑route and post‑trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle operation.
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
- Tarp and ensure safety and security of cargo.
Qualifications
- Driver’s License:
Class 1 orA.
- Documentation knowledge: driver logbook, inspection reports (pre‑trip, en‑route, post‑trip), maintenance and repair reports, trip reports.
- Transportation/travel experience: long‑haul, provincial/territorial.
- Specialized environmental skills and knowledge.
- Valid passport.
- Criminal record check.
- Driver validity licence check.
- Driving record check (abstract).
- Drug test.
- Willing to travel cross‑border, internationally, overnight, for extended periods.
