Franklin Sports, Inc. is looking to hire a passionate, high-energy individual that will be expected to manage all aspects of carrier selection, carrier performance, and cost management. This position will lead, train, and coach the team that oversees shipment routing and customer order fulfilment processes, while ensuring that key performance metrics are met. This position must work closely with various departments both internal and external as required. In addition, they will be responsible for building direct business relationships with all carriers, brokers, and customer logistics representatives, ultimately in the pursuit of meeting and exceeding all end customer expectations.

What you will do: We are looking to hire a Logistics Manager with extensive knowledge in logistics, and/or carrier management experience and must have prior leadership experience managing small to mid-size skilled teams. Highly desired to possess direct management knowledge of retail operations in a big box warehouse environment. The ideal candidate is expected to have the ability to drive and implement change, ensure process accuracy and must be proactive with resource management.

This position is located at our Distribution Center in Memphis, TN and will report to the Senior Director of Memphis Operations.

IN MORE DETAIL, YOU WILL:

Manage all outbound shipment scheduling and coordination from our 550,000 square foot distribution center in Memphis, TN
Interact daily with outbound carriers – call for routing, carrier pickup scheduling, track and trace of all outbound shipments
Manage a team of 5-10 associates to ensure customer orders are managed, shipped, and delivered on time
Develop business relationships with carriers, external customer contacts, and peers creating the most efficient and cost-effective shipping methods
Responsible for customer order preparation and order tracking throughout the order shipment life cycle
Responsible for final invoicing of all outbound orders, freight charges and credit card processes
Create and implement best practices and continuous improvement to deliver superior quality results throughout the operation
In collaboration with other managers, develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for transportation operations
Monitor reporting and establish metrics to ensure orders are being shipped on time and complete
Must be willing and able to work extended hours and weekends, as required to support the business
Handle special projects and other requests, as required
Other duties as assigned

WHO YOU ARE:

Bachelor’s degree in logistics or a related field is highly desired; High School diploma or equivalent is required
At least 3 years of directly related experience is required
Strong experience in all facets of small parcel, LTL and FTL carrier management, preferably in a retail distribution environment

WHAT YOU HAVE DONE:
Extensive logistics and freight carrier industry management and expertise
Working knowledge of best practices including the most efficient and cost-effective shipping methods
Advanced understanding of all small parcel, LTL and FTL processes
Prior experience in carrier pricing/RFP negotiations, freight classification and tariffs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong supervisory, leadership, and motivation skills
Advanced logistical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Up-to-date knowledge of regulations of hazardous shipments, DOT, OSHA and safety requirements
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, and Excel)

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Interact regularly and follow up with internal and external parties based on direction of management, presents information for decision making to manager, and the requires ability to independently follow up on pending items and to manage their own daily tasks and projects as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position directly supervises a team of order fulfillment and traffic related specialists.

This person is occasionally required to operate and/or ride on material handling equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work will be performed in a warehouse environment with exposure to changing temperatures. While performing the duties of this job, this person is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
