Full Job Description
Position Overview:
The Logistics Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s supply chain and logistics operations. This includes domestic and international inbound shipping, inventory movement, warehousing, order fulfillment, and last-mile delivery. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in high-volume warehousing, 3PL/4PL management, e-commerce fulfillment, and process optimization.
Key Responsibilities:Logistics & Transportation
Manage all inbound and outbound transportation activities (international containers, LTL, FTL, parcel)
Negotiate and manage freight contracts and carrier performance
Ensure timely delivery and receipt of inventory across all channels (B2B and DTC)
Oversee customs compliance and import processes
Warehouse Operations
Lead on-site warehouse team and manage day-to-day operations (picking, packing, shipping, receiving)
Implement best practices for warehouse layout, inventory flow, and space utilization
Ensure accuracy and efficiency in inventory management and order fulfillment
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment
Supply Chain & Fulfillment Strategy
Design and execute scalable logistics strategies to support seasonal spikes and growth
Evaluate and manage relationships with 3PLs, carriers, and freight forwarders
Oversee KPI tracking (OTIF, shipping costs, inventory turns, shrinkage)
Collaborate with planning, procurement, customer service, and e-commerce teams to align logistics with business needs
Systems & Process Optimization
Implement and optimize logistics systems and warehouse management software (WMS)
Drive automation, efficiency, and cost reductions through continuous improvement initiatives
Develop and document SOPs for logistics and warehouse operations
Team Leadership
Build, train, and lead an efficient warehouse and logistics team
Set goals, provide coaching, and drive accountability across logistics functions
Ensure staffing plans align with volume forecasts and business cycles
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (MBA a plus)
8+ years of experience in logistics, distribution, or supply chain management
Proven leadership in a high-volume warehouse or fulfillment center
Strong understanding of e-commerce and wholesale logistics
Experience with freight negotiations, 3PLs, and international shipping
Hands-on experience with WMS and inventory systems
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, on-site environment
Preferred Experience:
Background in home décor, consumer goods, or seasonal products
Knowledge of Shopify, Amazon fulfillment, or EDI integrations
Lean or Six Sigma certification a plus
Experience handling oversized or fragile goods
