Job profile
Ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective movement of raw materials and finished products for a palm oil refinery. Coordinate inbound/outbound logistics, manage transport partners and documentation, optimize inventory flows, and uphold regulatory, quality, and sustainability standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and Scheduling of vehicle movement
- Build daily/weekly plans for inbound agri-commodities; align with production and tank capacities.
- Coordinate the movement of incoming and outgoing CPO and CPKO with fleet manager, hire vehicle and vendors
- Coordinating with suppliers to meet contract targets
- Problem-solving when logistical issues arise
- Help meet procurement targets for all agricultural commodities
- Manage all incoming good procedure to corporation standards (eg, weighbridge differences, shortages)
- Adhere to anti-theft procedures
- Oversee weighbridge operations, yard management
- Coordinate safe, efficient loading/unloading of bulk tankers, containers
- Monitor tank farm levels and safety stocks; reconcile physical vs. system; support cycle counts and loss control.
Carrier and Vendor Management
- Source and negotiate with transporters, manage contracts, rate cards, and performance reviews.
- Enforce transporter compliance (permits, insurance, driver training, HSE standards, vehicle condition).
Documentation and Systems
- Prepare and control delivery notes, weight tickets
- Maintain ERP transactions, and maintain record of all inputs
Risk and Security
- Implement journey management and route risk assessments; coordinate escorts where required.
- Support spill response, incident reporting, and regulatory compliance; champion a zero-harm culture.
- Adhere to anti-theft procedures
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
- 3–5+ years in logistics within edible oils, agri-commodities, FMCG, or refining; West Africa experience strongly preferred.
- Strong grasp of West African transport
- ERP proficiency
- Knowledge of liquid bulk handling, tank farms, weighbridge, and quality sampling.
- Certifications (advantage): CILT, APICS CSCP/CLTD, RSPO eTrace/ISCC training.
- Languages: Fluent English
