Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator role will focus on supporting the VPI Capital Projects, Aftermarket, and Warranty throughout all stages of the execution. The role includes assisting the Logistics Manager, PMs, Sourcing, Scheduling, Engineering, and TA’s as it relates to transportation, international trade, and risk mitigation.
The Logistics Coordinator will be responsible for arranging the transportation and services for all orders via ocean, air, and truck freight shipments as required. This includes the ability in providing required export documentation, packaging recommendations, and negotiating freight contracts transportation.
Responsibilities:
Quote and arranges pick up or release on all orders considered to be “minor equipment”. (i.e. LTL, FTL, containers, air freight, courier, export packaging, etc.)
Obtain, monitor, or complete required shipping documentation for inbound and outbound cargo.
Liaise with customs brokers and carriers on all import/export transactions and documentation.
Update Project delivery tracker for PM/Client for each project.
Update Project delivery tracker daily as orders are shipped and delivered.
Obtain, audit, and communicate preliminary/final shipping details to the relevant parties.
Create Bid tabs/ Requisitions for Transportation Cost as required by the VPI Policy.
Create or update process and procedures at needed for Logistics Department.
Audit and communicate master shipping file discrepancies with various parties.
Review and approve freight invoices.
Closely track and problem-solve schedule related issues (internally & externally).
Determine the most economical mode of transportation within a given set of restrictions.
Assist when asked with technical issues related to imports and exports.
Communicate with logistics sales support to ensure accurate estimated freight cost and lead times are established for proposals.
Update and maintain internal US customs entry logs including assist amounts.
Responsible for all duty customs sales and tax functions, including certification and verification, drawback, and compliance with governmental agencies.
Expedite vendors to confirm RTS date and packing list details.
Confirm orders have been shipped complete.
Attend and support project team meetings as needed or requested.
Develop Site Requirements for specific project assignments.
Support Sourcing department in determining freight cost from various origin to the final destination.
Position Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Traffic or related field or equivalent experience.
Experience in logistics, operations, engineering, or project management is preferred.
5 years of domestic & international transportation experience is preferred.
Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills at various levels.
Organized team player able to work independently in a results-driven, fast-paced environment.
Qualitative abilities including strong analytical skills, technical proficiency, and effective problem-solving skills.
Proficient using Microsoft applications; Excel is required.
Commercial and / or business development experience required.
Facilitates complex projects and effectively manages multiple tasks.
Willing and able to learn new computer systems, products, concepts, and techniques.
Must be willing and able to work overtime as required
