Day in the life as a Locomotive Attendant at VIA Rail
As a Locomotive Attendant, you will be responsible for the safe movement of locomotives and train consists in and around the Vancouver Maintenance Center. You will also be asked to move equipment, use industrial tools, perform general cleaning/janitorial duties, and other related tasks.
You must be willing and able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
The position is permanent (40 hours per week guaranteed), with a work schedule that may vary based on seniority. Candidates must be available to work any day of the week, as the Maintenance Center operates 24/7 during peak season.

Requirements
High School diploma
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and use industrial tools
Valid driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 is an asset)
Proactive attitude and ability to work well under pressure
Availability to work outdoors, evenings, and weekends
Assets
Previous experience in a railway environment or similar role
C.R.O.R. certification
