The Opportunity
The position of Inventory Control Analyst is based out of our Portsmouth, VA warehouse. Working under general supervision and in partnership with the supply chain, commercial, and customer service teams, this role is responsible for managing inventory within the Warehouse.
Responsible for the efficient flow of inventory within the distribution center and customer accounts in alignment with customer needs and organizational policies. This role will proactively monitor and analyze stock and non-stock inventory items to ensure optimization as well as adherence to Site inventory policies. The focus is driving measurable cost-efficiency improvements (Inventory Levels, Scrap, and freight) while improving performance and quality targets. Interprets and implements specific policies and procedures to accomplish assignments.

What You’ll Work On
In conjunction with the SC and Customer Service groups execute processes and develop tools to manage non-stock inventory items. This includes transactional processes, documentation and reporting, training, and supporting application tools.
The focus is on optimizing inventory levels and minimizing expenses (scrap and freight)
Partners with warehouse management, procurement, sales representatives, and internal leadership to ensure cross-functional buy-in and alignment on the execution of consignment inventory target setting, rerouting of product, and successful execution of phase-in/phase-out projects.
Regularly spends time on the warehouse floor to understand business needs and see the current state first-hand
Proactively monitors and maintains inventory in partnership with the sales team and internal parties.
Conducts routine tasks such as issuing credit memos for non-conformances, customer shortages, overages, and courier returns.
Resolves errors and/or discrepancies with inventory with customer service and distribution teams, and with customers as needed.
Extracts data from internal systems to create various Excel spreadsheets used to identify inventory management, expired inventory, stock rotation initiatives, and other inventory/stocking issues. Ensures the accuracy and completeness of the information that is entered into the ERP system.
Utilize problem-solving techniques, tact, and discretion when handling interactions with sales, finance, and warehouse operations stakeholders. Ability to negotiate to consensus.
Will be responsible for coordinating cycle count activities with warehouse staff. May research and resolve various discrepancies that arise in the cycle counts reports.
Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.
Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Associate Degree (± 16 years) in finance, business administration, or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Minimum 5-7 years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree BA, BBA, or BS in finance, business administration, or related field OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
Demonstrated ability to perform intermediate capability in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems, SAGE, or Microsoft Great Plains (GP) strongly preferred.
Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.
Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.
Multitasks prioritizes and meets deadlines on time.
Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.
Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model is preferred.
Knowledge of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) preferred

The base pay for this position is $22.15 – $44.35 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
