Overview:

We seek an experienced and dynamic International Freight Director to oversee and manage the end-to-end logistics and freight forwarding operations, with a strong focus on shipments from China. This role will involve close collaboration with teams in China, the US, and Mexico to ensure seamless movement of containers, efficient customs processes, and strong relationships with ocean freight and container forwarders. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in international shipping, port operations, and team management, with a proven track record of navigating complex global supply chains.

Key Responsibilities:

China Shipment & Port Management: Leverage extensive experience in managing shipments and port operations in China to coordinate the movement of containers to Mexico (MX) and the United States (US).

Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members in China to facilitate the logistics of moving containers to MX and the US, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.

Freight Forwarder Relationship Management: Oversee and maintain strong partnerships with ocean freight and container forwarders, managing the booking of containers in China through to their arrival in the US and MX.

Port Operations: Lead efforts to bring containers into port, ensuring smooth coordination between shipping lines, port authorities, and internal teams.

Customs Process Oversight: Manage and streamline customs processes for shipments entering the US and MX, ensuring compliance with all regulations and minimizing delays.

Invoicing Coordination: Collaborate with the Romania team to ensure accurate and timely invoicing for all freight-related activities.

Team Leadership: Directly supervise one report in Romania and one in China, while providing strategic direction to a broader team of nine in China, fostering collaboration and accountability across regions.

Global Supply Chain Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service levels across the international freight operations.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in international freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain management, with specific expertise in handling China shipments and port operations.

Strong understanding of ocean freight logistics, container booking processes, and customs regulations in the US and MX.

Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and other key stakeholders.

Experience working with cross-functional, international teams, preferably in China, Romania, or similar regions.

Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate remote teams.

Fluency in English required; proficiency in Mandarin or Spanish is a plus.

Reporting Structure:

Oversees a broader team of 9 in China.
