Position: Intermodal Terminal Manager
Job Description:
Forward Intermodal is seeking a capable and career-oriented Terminal Manager to lead our intermodal operation. The ideal candidate will manage all terminal staff to include dispatch, maintenance, and drivers. He/she will provide planning for, direction to, and will control available resources associated with safety, compliance, and equipment maintenance. In addition, he/she will provide training, performance feedback, and provide disciplinary recommendations when necessary .
Core Responsibilities & Duties:
Ensure all work is performed according to Forward Air approved procedures, standards, and specifications for intermodal operations
Guarantee audit compliance within all areas of the operation
Review terminal operating reports and adjust operations for increased efficiencies
Create onboarding strategies for hiring, training, and overall employee retention
Focus on employee development: organic growth through cross-training
Manage and react to day-to-day operational requirements in a professional and timely manner
Directly supervise all activities of all drayage personnel
Ensure appropriate operational plans to maximize company and fleet assets
Coordinate work assignments, monitor performance, and provide training on relevant job duties
Provide a clean, safe working environment for all personnel and visiting customers
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Ability to drive performance of direct reports and lead a team in a lean freight environment
Understand P&L statements and analyze areas for production improvement
Minimum 3 years intermodal experience
Degree or 5 years equivalent work experience preferred
Demonstrated operational management experience of minimum 15-person unit or larger required
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of operations
Must be flexible to work weekends and nights
Skills:
Ideal candidate will possess a “can do” attitude with a “will do” work ethic
Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
General computer skills – Microsoft Office, Outlook
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
