We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, committed and hard-working Import operator with mandarin speaking skills for our busy Import and Export Office.

Job Role

The main scope of the role is to provide efficient delivery logistics through data management. You will be entering data into our SAP computer system while liaising with our suppliers in China via email, arranging the delivery of shipping containers into our warehouse and other parts of the UK and overseas. As an Import Operator, you will:

Liaise with Suppliers by telephone, email, face to face etc. and build a link/ rapport to ensure a smooth flow of information.

Learn the shipment of goods process from China and be a link between our transport agents

Any other duties in regard with contact between us and our Chinese factory.

Further training will be given to the correct candidate.

Job Requirements:

Proficiency in Mandarin is needed. Preferably native speaking.

Proficiency in English is needed. 

A minimum of two years of experience in import/export is required.

Experience of working in a similar environment is essential

Background in finance would be preferred. 

Must have excellent Customer / Supplier communication skills in both Mandarin/English speaking

Leadership skills would also be beneficial.

Dedicated individual who takes responsibility for completing challenging tasks.

Office Administration experience highly regarded

Ability to work under own supervision and as part of a team

Ability to work to short deadlines

Ability to organise own workload

Attention to detail is needed

Excellent numeracy and literacy

Exceptional communication skills over the phone and face to face

Proficient in Microsoft Office / Excel

Friendly and professional to work with a small team

Adaptable and flexible to working hours

Experience with SAP preferred

Responsibilities

Dealing with each step of the shipping process

Tracking shipments and communicating with suppliers in China

Co-ordinating shipping with customs agents for clearance on oversea containers

Ensuring transit and deliveries of goods are made on time

Arranging and completing all associated paperwork

Managing deadlines and sometimes difficult situations

Managing files from start to finish.

Handling sales and purchase transactions.

Preparing quotes for UK clients on shipments.

Providing quotes and managing shipments for multiple clients.

Overseeing and maintaining key accounts.

Generating invoices.

Managing accounts for direct clients.

Resolving customer queries and complaints promptly and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
