Job Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize full set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for import business. Conduct regular SOP reviews and random spot checks to ensure team members fully understand import operation standards, and continuously rectify process loopholes.
- Take full charge of the whole onboarding process for new import clients, including customizing import-specific SOPs, business alignment, system file setup and staff training.
- Oversee daily management of the import operation team, control the full-chain service quality of import shipments, and minimize operational errors, cargo damages and customer complaints.
- Proactively liaise with overseas agents and overseas origin offices to coordinate upstream operations and ensure efficient operation of the entire import logistics chain.
- Maintain sound cooperative relationships with import supporting service providers, including warehouses, customs brokers, overseas booking agents and major ocean carriers, to stabilize resources for import customs clearance, warehousing and ocean transportation.
- Deliver services strictly in line with clients’ import requirements, and hold regular client communication meetings to update shipment progress and resolve pain points in customs clearance and logistics.
- Manage the entire import operation team comprehensively, covering work allocation, scheduling and performance appraisal for staff handling import deconsolidation, customs clearance, last-mile delivery and reconciliation.
- Nurture supervisors within the import team and systematically equip them with capabilities including team management, exception handling and client communication.
- Timely deliver actionable solutions to various business issues such as customs clearance delays, cargo inspections, damaged goods and abnormal overseas manifests.
- Provide professional end-to-end import support by collaborating internally with sales and finance teams, and externally with clients, customs authorities and service vendors.
- Hold monthly/quarterly business review meetings with clients’ local Hong Kong offices and follow up action items closely to strengthen long-term partnership.
- Undertake other import-related ad-hoc tasks assigned by the Branch Manager.
Qualifications & Requirements
- College diploma or above.
- 8–10 years of working experience in international logistics and freight pricing, with a minimum of 6 years of hands-on import operation and pricing experience in freight forwarding.
- Deep expertise in LCL import business; well-versed in full import workflows, major global import trade lanes, ocean freight market rates and space availability, with solid knowledge of Hong Kong customs clearance, declaration, warehousing and delivery regulations.
- Result-oriented with proven track records in acquiring new import clients and expanding business volume from existing accounts.
- Strong business acumen, customer-centric mindset and self-motivation; capable of working under heavy pressure amid frequent import operational exceptions.
- Able to communicate smoothly with shippers and import clients of all nationalities, confident in business negotiations and relationship building.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and persistence; detail-minded, well-organized and quality-focused on import customer service.
- Strategic thinker with long-term business planning capabilities, coupled with strong drive and determination to formulate and implement team operation improvement plans.
- Outstanding skills in business negotiation, cross-party communication and conflict mediation.
- Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese, capable of drafting independent import proposals, business emails and procedural documents.
