Imperative Logistics is seeking a detail-oriented Export Operations Specialist to support the planning and execution of international air and ocean shipments. In this role, you’ll manage bookings, documentation, and carrier coordination while ensuring compliance with export regulations. We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Export Operations Specialist to join our Export Department. This role requires high attention to detail due to documentation processing and compliance requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Develop and execute efficient transportation plans for export shipments.
Negotiate and secure rates with carriers.
Coordinate and place bookings with airlines, steamship lines, and other transport providers.
Monitor carriers’ and terminals’ schedules to ensure timely departures and arrivals.
Arrange and oversee drayage carriers, ensuring adherence to critical deadlines.
Schedule loadings and track completion to meet operational requirements.
Ensure all documentation deadlines are met.
Prepare and send pre-alerts to relevant parties.
Track and communicate all shipment milestones with shippers, carriers, and customers.
Support sales efforts by responding promptly to rate requests.
Provide the accounting department with accurate and complete billing details.
Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies.
Assess potential risks and coordinate insurance when necessary.
Keep customers informed of shipment status updates and proactively resolve issues.
Ensure seamless process management to maintain high levels of client satisfaction.
Complete other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Proficiency in CargoWise (or similar logistics management software).
Strong customer service skills with a client-focused approach.
1-3 years of experience in freight forwarding, specializing in air, ocean, or both.
Freight Forwarding expertise (air and ocean export operations)
Dangerous Goods (DG) Certification preferred
Financial acumen, including familiarity with brokerage contracts, a strong plus.
Ability to manage detailed documentation and ensure compliance with export regulations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Comprehensive knowledge of international transportation, logistics, and export compliance procedures.
Dangerous Goods (DG) certification preferred but not required.
Strong attention to detail, organizational, and follow-up skills due to the documentation-heavy nature of the role.
COMPENSATION
$21.00 to $25.00 an hour depending on experience and qualifications
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The position is in an indoor, office environment, requires the ability to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors verbally and in writing, sit for periods of time, operate typical office equipment which requires seeing and the use of a keyboard.
