Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary TMS Engineer to lead the development of a scalable, efficient, and highly integrative Transportation Management System (TMS). This system will serve as the digital backbone of a fast-growing freight and logistics infrastructure built to support modern driver operations, broker integration, and real-time decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics software development, ELD/GPS compatibility, and API integration with leading platforms (e.g., Samsara, Motive, McLeod, Project44, etc.).
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and deploy a proprietary TMS platform from the ground up
Build scalable architecture that supports multi-fleet operations and real-time communication with drivers
Ensure compatibility and API integration with industry-standard equipment (ELDs, GPS, EDI systems)
Implement recordkeeping tools for compliance, dispatch, billing, and safety audits
Automate driver assignments based on location, load readiness, and delivery windows
Enable dynamic dashboards for live status updates for shippers, dispatch, and back-office operations
Collaborate with executive and operations teams to define feature sets, user experience, and scaling timelines
Ideal Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
5+ years of experience building SaaS or TMS platforms within the transportation or logistics space
Proficient in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure), database architecture, and cybersecurity best practices
Familiarity with ELD providers, freight APIs, and FMCSA-compliant data systems
Strong skills in backend development (Python, Node.js, or similar), frontend frameworks (React preferred), and data analytics
Experience with live tracking, load board integrations, and electronic document management
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and project management abilities
Preferred Traits
Startup-ready mindset with a focus on rapid prototyping and iterative scaling
Experience working with or for freight brokers, carriers, or logistics marketplaces
Knowledge of TMS competitors and industry gaps (McLeod, ITS Dispatch, AscendTMS, etc.)
Ability to build with reproducibility and licensing in mind

Pay: $70,000.00 – $118,260.00 per year
