We have been tasked by a reputable shipping company to source for a Head of Marine to be based in Hong Kong. This is a senior leadership role where you must have had experience overseeing over 50 vessels.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee marine operations across the managed fleet.
- Provide operational guidance and support to Masters and vessel teams.
- Monitor vessel movements, port calls, cargo operations and overall operational performance.
- Coordinate with owners, charterers, agents and terminals to resolve operational issues and minimise delays.
- Oversee voyage planning, vessel readiness, bunkering and port operations.
- Monitor operational KPIs, delays, off-hire and vessel performance.
- Work closely with Technical, Crewing, HSSEQ and Commercial teams to ensure smooth vessel operations.
- Support the management of operational emergencies and critical situations.
- Ensure vessels operate in line with company procedures and applicable maritime regulations.
- Lead and develop the Marine Operations team and drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Master Mariner / Class 1 Deck Officer qualification preferred.
- Strong seagoing experience, ideally to Master level.
- 10+ years of maritime experience with significant shore-based operational experience.
- Strong knowledge of vessel operations, port/cargo operations and maritime regulations.
- Experience working with Masters, owners, charterers and agents.
- Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
