Head of Cargo – Aviall Group
Aviall Group is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Head of Cargo to lead the continued growth of our cargo charter division.
Based in Melbourne, this senior appointment will take responsibility for Aviall’s cargo charter commercial strategy, key accounts, business development and sales performance across Australia, the Asia-Pacific and international markets.
Aviall Group provides specialist aircraft charter solutions for complex, urgent and time-critical aviation requirements. Our cargo capability supports customers across freight forwarding, project logistics, mining and resources, government, defence and specialist logistics markets.
The Head of Cargo will work directly with the CEO and play a key role in the continued expansion of Aviall’s international cargo charter business.
The Role
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading Aviall’s cargo charter sales strategy and commercial performance
- Developing and managing a strong pipeline of domestic and international charter opportunities
- Originating, quoting, negotiating and closing high-value cargo charter transactions
- Developing strategic relationships with freight forwarders, project logistics providers, mining and resources companies, government, defence and major cargo customers
- Growing existing accounts and developing new long-term customer relationships
- Identifying opportunities across ad-hoc charter, project cargo, time-critical freight, oversized cargo and dedicated aircraft capacity
- Maintaining strong commercial relationships across the global airline, operator and aviation brokerage market
- Monitoring aircraft availability, market capacity, positioning opportunities and changing customer requirements
- Managing sales forecasting, CRM discipline, account strategy and commercial reporting
- Working closely with Aviall’s operations function to ensure seamless execution of charter missions
- Developing recurring and contracted cargo opportunities alongside Aviall’s ad-hoc charter business
- Supporting the continued development and expansion of the cargo division
About You
We are looking for a highly commercial aviation or logistics professional with the confidence and experience to take ownership of a growing international cargo portfolio.
Experience within one or more of the following areas would be highly regarded:
- Air cargo
- Cargo aircraft charter
- Freight forwarding
- Airline cargo sales
- Project logistics
- Aviation brokerage
- Time-critical logistics
- Mining and resources logistics
- Government or defence logistics
Established industry relationships across freight forwarding, logistics, aviation or major cargo customers will be highly regarded.
The successful candidate will be comfortable developing senior commercial relationships, identifying new opportunities, negotiating high-value transactions and operating in a fast-moving international environment.
