Role Description The Global Forwarding Operations Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, ON. This role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day global forwarding operations, including managing international air and ocean shipments, preparing and reviewing transport documentation, and monitoring shipments from booking through final delivery. The specialist will liaise with carriers, customers, customs brokers, and internal teams to ensure on-time, compliant, and cost-effective movement of goods. Daily responsibilities include entering and updating shipment data in internal systems, tracking and tracing cargo, resolving operational issues, and supporting accurate billing and cost control. The role also involves analyzing shipment performance, assisting with process improvements, and contributing to high-quality customer service and communication.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in global operations, including international freight forwarding or logistics, with knowledge of air and ocean shipping practices and regulations.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret shipment data, monitor performance, identify issues, and recommend operational improvements.
- Effective communication skills, including clear written and verbal communication with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
- Operations management capabilities, including shipment coordination, documentation handling, prioritization, and time management across multiple concurrent shipments.
- Basic understanding of finance as it relates to logistics, such as freight cost control, billing accuracy, and margin awareness.
- Proficiency with logistics or TMS systems, along with solid skills in standard office software (e.g., spreadsheets, email, and reporting tools).
- Previous experience in freight forwarding, supply chain, or related logistics roles; exposure to customs procedures and trade compliance is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain, business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
