Role Description The General Manager, Logistics & Business Operations is a full-time, on-site role based in Lahore, responsible for overseeing daily logistics activities and overall business operations. This role includes managing end-to-end supply chain processes, coordinating transportation and warehouse operations, and ensuring timely, accurate delivery of goods. The General Manager will develop and implement operational strategies, optimize resource utilization, and monitor performance metrics to improve efficiency and service quality. Responsibilities also include budgeting and cost control, vendor and partner management, compliance with relevant regulations, and leading cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives. The role requires close collaboration with senior leadership to support business planning, process improvements, and expansion initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day performance and execution of Mass Shipping Line.
- Lead end-to-end sea freight, air freight, road transportation and multimodal logistics operations.
- Manage FCL, LCL, import, export and cross-trade shipments.
- Ensure seamless execution from customer inquiry through shipment completion, invoicing and profitability review.
- Drive revenue, gross profit, service quality, productivity and customer-retention objectives.
- Manage freight pricing, procurement and quotation processes.
- Negotiate competitive rates and commercial terms with shipping lines, airlines, transporters, overseas agents and logistics partners.
- Maintain strong controls over pricing, margins and commercial commitments.
- Monitor shipment-level, customer-level and trade-lane profitability.
- Develop and manage key customer relationships and support profitable business growth.
- Ensure proactive customer communication and high service standards.
- Manage major operational, customer and commercial escalations.
- Build and strengthen relationships with international freight-forwarding agents and strategic partners.
- Develop scalable SOPs, workflows, controls and accountability across the business.
- Ensure accurate and timely shipment documentation and record management.
- Manage operating budgets, vendor costs and overall resource utilization.
- Work closely with Finance on invoicing, receivables, customer credit exposure, collections and working-capital discipline.
- Lead, coach and develop cross-functional teams.
- Establish clear KPIs, performance standards and individual accountability.
- Implement freight-management systems, CRM, dashboards, digital workflows and process automation.
- Promote data-driven decision-making across commercial and operational functions.
- Reduce dependency on manual processes, spreadsheets and individual knowledge through stronger systems and standardization.
- Support the Executive Director and Board on business expansion, new trade lanes, strategic initiatives and organizational development.
- Prepare structured weekly and monthly management reports covering commercial, operational and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with applicable shipping, customs, transportation, trade and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Commerce or a related field.
- MBA, master’s degree or relevant professional qualification will be an advantage.
- Approximately 8–15 years of relevant experience in freight forwarding, shipping, logistics, 3PL or supply-chain services.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a management or business leadership role.
- Strong practical understanding of international freight forwarding.
- Strong knowledge of ocean freight, air freight, FCL, LCL, import, export and transportation operations.
- Demonstrated experience managing end-to-end logistics operations rather than only one functional area.
- Strong understanding of freight pricing, procurement, quotations and shipment profitability.
- Experience dealing with shipping lines, airlines, transporters, customs partners, overseas agents and vendors.
- Strong commercial orientation with an understanding of customer acquisition, key-account management and profitable revenue growth.
- Working knowledge of P&L management, budgeting, cost control, receivables and working capital.
- Experience using freight-management systems, ERP, CRM, reporting dashboards or digital logistics platforms is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to implement SOPs, process improvements, automation and performance-management systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capability.
- Strong leadership and people-management skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant logistics or business-management systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and performance-driven environment.
