Position Summary
We are hiring a Part-Time Gatehouse Attendant to join our team in Plattsburgh, NY. This role is vital to the security and flow of our transportation operations. You will be responsible for managing the entry and exit of trucks, verifying documentation, and maintaining accurate logs. Candidates must be flexible and available to work both day and night shifts as scheduled. Adherence to BWT’s policies—including attendance, conduct, and our Drug-Free Workplace Policy—is essential to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Verify driver paperwork and credentials before granting access to the yard
Monitor and log all inbound and outbound vehicles
Notify internal staff of incoming deliveries or visitors
Maintain awareness and ensure safety procedures are followed at all times
Maintain detailed and accurate records
Stay alert and focused, especially during long or repetitive shifts
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented with the ability to remain alert for extended periods
Basic computer skills for documentation and communication
Dependable, punctual, and self-motivated
Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
Must wear steel-toe footwear while on duty
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed
Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
Flexibility to work both day and night shifts as required
Compensation
Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour
Schedule:
Flexible – Must be available to cover both Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) and Night
