Job Description:
CJW SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT INC. is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Freight Handling Technician to join our growing logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely handling, organizing, loading, unloading, and preparing freight for transportation while ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with company safety standards. The ideal candidate is a motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced warehouse environment and is committed to maintaining high operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and unload freight from trucks, trailers, and containers safely and efficiently.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing shipments for accuracy and visible damage.
- Sort, label, palletize, and stage freight for shipment or storage.
- Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts (certification preferred).
- Maintain accurate inventory and shipment records using warehouse management systems.
- Ensure freight is properly secured to prevent damage during transportation.
- Assist with inventory counts and warehouse organization.
- Follow OSHA regulations and company safety procedures at all times.
- Report damaged freight, shortages, or operational issues promptly.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors and logistics coordinators to meet daily shipping schedules.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous warehouse, freight handling, or logistics experience is an asset but not required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
- Comfortable working in a physically active environment.
- Basic computer and scanning device skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Forklift certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain certification).
Pay: $22.40 – $26.00 per hour
