Job Overview
West Bend Transit (WBT) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Freight Broker to join our WEBE Logistics Division. The ideal Chicagoland candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating the movement of goods by coordinating with shippers and carriers to ensure timely and efficient transportation solutions. This position requires strong negotiation skills, a solid understanding of logistics, and the ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
Duties
Develop and maintain relationships with clients to understand their shipping needs and provide tailored logistics solutions.
Manage the entire freight process from initial contact through delivery, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met.
Utilize transportation planning skills to optimize routes and reduce costs while maintaining service quality.
Negotiate rates with carriers to secure competitive pricing for clients while maximizing profit margins.
Coordinate with various stakeholders including shippers, carriers, and internal teams to ensure seamless operations.
Maintain accurate records of shipments, contracts, and customer interactions using logistics software. Experience with the PCS software platform is a plus.
Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and expand the client base through inside sales efforts.
Provide exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the shipping process.
Requirements
Proven experience in freight brokerage or a related field is preferred.
Strong knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, and transportation planning principles.
Excellent customer relationship management skills with a focus on account management.
Proficient in logistics sales techniques with a track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Familiarity with contract negotiations and compliance within the freight industry.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with an attention to detail.
Proficiency in using logistics software.
