Job Summary:
Responsible for supporting lead brokers by managing assigned freight, maintaining customer and carrier relationships, and ensuring smooth daily brokerage operations. This role plays a key part in continuity of service, especially during periods when lead brokers are unavailable, while also contributing to business growth through relationship development and operational support.
Key Responsibilities:
Load Brokerage & Execution
- Broker freight assigned by the lead broker, including sourcing carriers, negotiating rates, and coordinating pickup and delivery.
- Monitor active loads to ensure on-time performance and proactively resolve issues as they arise.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for carriers and customers on assigned loads.
Operational & Administrative Support
- Process invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company procedures.
- Actively monitor accounts receivable for assigned customers and follow up on late payments to ensure timely resolution.
- Assist with load tracking, confirmations, and required brokerage paperwork.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date records within the TMS and accounting systems.
Dispatch Support
- Provide dispatch assistance as needed based on workload, employee absences, and operational demands.
- Assist with daily and weekly load planning to support on-time pickup and delivery.
- Contact end users to coordinate offloading appointments and ensure unloading instructions are clear.
- Communicate proactively with drivers regarding schedules, delays, and customer requirements.
- Provide timely updates to customers regarding any changes, delays, or delivery confirmations.
- Ensure all paperwork (BOLs, PODs, permits, scale tickets) is collected, uploaded, and organized promptly.
Relationship Development
- Curate and develop new carrier and customer relationships to support brokerage growth.
- Strengthen existing relationships through consistent communication and reliable service.
- Identify opportunities to expand business with current partners.
Qualifications
- Experience in freight brokerage, logistics, or transportation preferred
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage multiple loads and priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and follow-up skills
- Proficiency with TMS software, Microsoft Excel, and basic accounting/invoicing processes
- Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently while supporting a team

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
