SUMMARY
A Freight Analyst plays a critical role in optimizing the transportation and logistics operations of a company. They analyze shipping data, evaluate carrier performance, and identify cost-saving opportunities while ensuring timely and efficient delivery of goods.
KEY RESULT AREA
Analyze freight and logistics data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and cost-saving opportunities.
Develop strategies to reduce freight costs by selecting the best carriers, negotiating rates, and optimizing delivery routes.
Evaluate and maintain relationships with freight carriers to ensure high performance and adherence to contracts.
Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery rates, shipping costs, and carrier performance.
Prepare and present reports on freight performance, expenses, and cost-saving initiatives.
Ensure all shipments comply with industry regulations and company standards.
Work closely with procurement, warehouse, and supply chain teams to align freight operations with business goals.
Utilize software tools for freight management, data analysis, and reporting.
Any other duties as assigned by the manager.
SKILLS
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proficiency in logistics software and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, or SAP)
Knowledge of transportation regulations and industry best practices
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize task
Bachelors degree in supply chain management, logistics, business, or a related field
2+ years of experience in freight analysis, logistics, or supply chain operations
Understanding of freight modes (LTL, FTL, international shipping)
Experience with freight rate negotiations and carrier management
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in supply chain or logistics (e.g., APICS, CSCMP)
Experience with transportation management systems (TMS)
Familiarity with sustainability initiatives in logistics
