Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Freight Agent to join our logistics team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the transportation of goods, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining strong relationships with carriers and clients. This position requires a solid understanding of logistics operations and the ability to navigate the complexities of supply chain management.
Duties
Coordinate and manage freight shipments from origin to destination, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
Develop and maintain relationships with carriers to negotiate rates and secure capacity.
Utilize EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) systems for efficient order processing and tracking.
Monitor shipment progress and address any issues that may arise during transit.
Collaborate with internal teams to streamline logistics processes and improve service delivery.
Ensure adherence to FDA regulations for shipments involving regulated products.
Maintain accurate records of contracts, shipments, and communications within the AS400 software system.
Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly to inquiries and resolving issues.
Skills
Strong knowledge of logistics principles and supply chain management practices.
Proficiency in EDI systems and experience with AS400 software is highly desirable.
Excellent negotiation skills for logistics sales and carrier sales.
Familiarity with FDA regulations related to shipping and transportation of goods.
Ability to analyze data to make informed decisions regarding freight operations.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple shipments simultaneously.
Effective communication skills for building relationships with clients, carriers, and team members.
