Full Job Description
Join Viking Fence as a Forklift Operator/Yard Worker! In this role, you’ll play a vital part in our team, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and maintaining a well-organized lumber yard. From loading trucks to assisting customers and securing freight, your responsibilities will contribute to our continued success.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate forklift and equipment safely and efficiently.
Use motorized and manual tools, including pallet jack and dolly.
Accurately load trucks as per outgoing invoices.
Receive, put away, and document inbound materials.
Maintain excellent lumber yard presentation.
Assist customers with loading, returns, and exchanges.
Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools.
Work safely, adhering to company policies.
Use mobile handheld devices for shipment tracking.
Complete special projects as needed.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
Exposure to all weather conditions.
Regularly lift freight and objects (up to 50 lbs.).
Safely navigate loading docks.
Extended periods of standing and walking.
Minimum 18 years of age.
1-2 years forklift operation in a lumber yard preferred.
Pass a background check and drug/alcohol test.
Positive attitude with a strong attention to detail.
Compensation & Benefits
competitive pay of $18.00 to $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.
