Job Summary:
The Foreign Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing the acquisition of goods and services from international suppliers, ensuring compliance with organizational standards, legal regulations, and budgetary constraints. This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing purchase orders, and coordinating with logistics and customs teams to ensure timely delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Supplier Sourcing & Management:
Identify and evaluate potential international suppliers based on price, quality, service support, and reliability.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with overseas vendors and partners.
Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews.
Procurement Process:
Request and analyze quotations, negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
Issue and manage purchase orders in accordance with company policies.
Monitor and track orders to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues that arise.
Logistics & Compliance:
Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping companies, and customs brokers.
Ensure compliance with import/export laws, tariffs, and documentation requirements.
Monitor and manage inventory levels in line with procurement schedules.
Cost & Risk Management:
Continuously analyze market trends and pricing fluctuations.
Identify and mitigate risks related to international supply chains.
Recommend cost-saving initiatives and alternative sourcing strategies.
Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain accurate procurement records, including contracts, invoices, and shipping documentation.
Prepare regular reports on procurement activities, cost analysis, and supplier performance.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in international procurement or supply chain roles.
Solid understanding of global sourcing, incoterms, customs procedures, and international trade regulations.
Proficiency in procurement software and MS Office applications.
Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.
Fluency in English; additional languages (especially relevant to supplier countries) is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
Certification in procurement or supply chain (e.g., CIPS, CPSM, or equivalent).
Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
Familiarity with key supplier markets (e.g., China, Europe, USA, etc.).
