Role Description The Fleet & Logistics Operations Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in the London, Watford, Milton – Keynes and Birmingham. This role is responsible for coordinating daily fleet activities, including vehicle dispatching, route planning, and driver scheduling to support final-mile, regional, and freight operations. The specialist monitors shipment status, resolves delivery issues, and communicates proactively with drivers, customers, and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time performance and service quality. Day-to-day tasks include maintaining accurate transport and compliance records, tracking vehicle utilization, supporting maintenance scheduling, and using logistics software and telematics tools to optimize routes and load planning. The role also involves analyzing operational data to improve efficiency, supporting health and safety standards, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across logistics processes.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in fleet coordination, transport planning, or logistics operations within freight, haulage, or final-mile delivery environments.
  • Strong skills in route optimization, scheduling, and use of logistics or transport management systems (TMS), GPS/telematics, and related digital tools.
  • Ability to monitor shipments, manage exceptions, and communicate clearly with drivers, customers, and internal teams to resolve operational issues.
  • Knowledge of vehicle compliance, basic transport regulations, and health and safety practices relevant to road transport operations.
  • Solid organizational and time-management capabilities, with attention to detail and proficiency in using spreadsheets and reporting tools.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, on-site operations setting, with the ability to prioritize tasks and make decisions under time constraints.
  • Beneficial qualifications: prior experience in UK logistics or road transport, familiarity with regional routes in and around Ipswich, and exposure to scheduled and express delivery services.
  • Preferred education: vocational training or formal studies in logistics, supply chain management, transport, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
