Position Summary:
Manages and coordinates the operation of the company’s truck fleet, dispatching and maintenance activities.
Your role will optimize fleet performance, manage driver schedules and maintain safety and regulatory compliance.
Functional Responsibilities:
Supervises associates to include, but not limited to: staffing, training, coaching, performance management and problem resolution.
Oversees day-to-day administration and management of fleet maintenance function including: monitoring and approving department expenses; identifying and resolving problems; ensuring fleet equipment is maintained in a proper manner. Supervises the fleet fueling operation.
Negotiates with vendors to secure and administer bids for projects, equipment, and parts, as required. Manages the purchase of parts and maintains accurate inventory.
Monitor fleet performance metrics, analyze data, and identify areas for improvement to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Evaluates and approves expenses for purchase of operating supplies and services required for the maintenance operation, within departmental budget provisions.
Provide training and support to drivers on safety protocols, equipment operation, and company policies.
Remains current on regulatory requirements. May maintain required fleet licenses and certificates related to maintenance functions.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED (Degree a plus)
5+ years of fleet management experience
Systems experience with fleet management and routing software
Distribution industry experience a plus
