Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Finance Controller to lead the financial and commercial functions of our Steel Long Products business. The role will be responsible for driving financial governance, profitability, budgeting, cost optimization, working capital management, statutory compliance, and strategic decision support.

The ideal candidate should possess extensive experience in manufacturing finance with strong exposure to the Steel, Metals, Ferro Alloys, or allied manufacturing industry. The incumbent will partner with business leadership to improve EBITDA, strengthen internal controls, enhance commercial efficiency, and support sustainable business growth.

Industry Preference (Mandatory)

Candidates must have experience in one of the following industries:

  • Steel
  • Stainless Steel
  • Metals
  • Ferro Alloys
  • Heavy Manufacturing

Experience

  • 15–18 years of post-qualification experience in Finance & Accounts.
  • Minimum 7–8 years in a leadership role within the Steel, Metals, Manufacturing, or Ferro Alloys industry.
  • Proven experience in:
  • Financial Control
  • P&L Management
  • EBITDA Improvement
  • Finalization of Accounts
  • Cost & Commercial Finance
  • Working Capital Management
  • Immediate joiners or candidates serving up to a 30-day notice period will be preferred.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Control & Business Finance

  • Lead the overall financial management of the Steel Long Products business.
  • Drive profitability through effective financial planning and commercial governance.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and timely finalization of monthly, quarterly, and annual accounts.
  • Monitor and improve EBITDA, gross margins, and business profitability.
  • Prepare and review P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow Statement, and other financial reports.
  • Partner with business leaders to support strategic and operational decision-making.

2. Costing & Margin Management

  • Oversee product costing for Wire Rods, Wires, Bars, and other finished products.
  • Analyze standard vs. actual costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Monitor:
  • Raw Material Cost
  • Conversion Cost
  • Power & Fuel Cost
  • Yield & Recovery
  • Manufacturing Variances
  • Support pricing decisions through profitability and contribution analysis.

Drive initiatives for cost optimization and operational efficiency.

3. Commercial Finance Control

  • Lead financial governance across sales, procurement, logistics, dispatch, and plant commercial operations.
  • Review and approve:
  • Pricing
  • Sales contracts
  • Freight costs
  • Sales rebates
  • Commercial terms
  • Ensure accurate allocation of costs across plants, product lines, customers, and regions.

Conduct profitability analysis by product, customer, geography, and business segment.

4. MIS, Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Develop and strengthen the Management Information System (MIS).
  • Publish monthly dashboards covering:
  • Sales Realization
  • Contribution Margin
  • EBITDA
  • Cost Variance
  • Working Capital
  • Inventory
  • Receivables & Payables
  • Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and financial planning processes.
  • Support Group Finance in consolidation and management reporting.

5. Working Capital Management

  • Optimize working capital through effective monitoring of:
  • Inventory
  • Receivables
  • Payables
  • Improve cash flow and liquidity.
  • Monitor debtor ageing and collection efficiency.
  • Review customer credit limits and credit exposure.

Ensure timely vendor payments while maintaining healthy cash flows

6. Commercial Operations & Statutory Compliance

  • Oversee:
  • Contract Management
  • Dispatch Accounting
  • Freight Optimization
  • Vendor Claim Settlement
  • Ensure compliance with:
  • GST
  • TDS
  • Income Tax
  • Companies Act
  • Other applicable statutory regulations
  • Liaise with statutory auditors, internal auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities.
  • Strengthen Internal Financial Controls (IFC) and Internal Control Systems (ICS).

7. Financial Reporting & Accounts

  • Finalize monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Accounting Standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Review journal entries, provisions, accruals, reconciliations, and closing activities.
  • Ensure timely completion of financial audits.

9. Team Leadership

  • Lead and mentor Finance, Accounts, Costing, and Commercial Finance teams.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and best financial practices.
  • Build a high-performance finance function aligned with business objectives.
