Full Job Description
Position Summary:
The Controller will be responsible for the full scope of financial management, including accounting operations, inventory costing, internal controls, and financial reporting. This role requires a strong background in both manufacturing and e-commerce, with a particular focus on wholesale operations, inventory systems, and multi-channel revenue recognition. As a key member of the leadership team, the Controller will ensure the financial health and compliance of the organization while driving process improvements across departments.
Key Responsibilities:Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee all accounting operations including AR/AP, GL, revenue recognition, cost accounting, and payroll
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and deliver timely and accurate financial statements
Prepare internal reports and dashboards to support strategic decision-making
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies
Inventory & Cost Accounting
Manage inventory accounting across warehouses and fulfillment centers
Oversee standard costing and bill of materials for manufactured and sourced products
Conduct regular inventory reconciliations and cost variance analysis
Wholesale & E-commerce Financial Integration
Reconcile revenues from multiple channels including wholesale accounts, Shopify, Amazon, and other marketplaces
Coordinate with sales and operations teams to ensure accuracy of purchase orders, chargebacks, and deductions
Manage trade terms, credit limits, and payment collections from wholesale partners
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes
Monitor cash flow and working capital needs
Provide variance analysis and insight into financial performance trends
Systems & Process Optimization
Maintain and improve accounting and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
Integrate financial workflows with e-commerce and wholesale platforms
Identify opportunities for automation, cost savings, and operational efficiencies
Team Leadership
Supervise and develop accounting staff and external accounting vendors
Ensure proper internal controls, audit readiness, and financial compliance
Partner with leadership on strategic planning, pricing, and cost control initiatives
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred)
7+ years of accounting/finance experience, including 3+ years in a Controller or senior accounting role
Experience in manufacturing, e-commerce, and wholesale distribution is required
Strong knowledge of inventory costing, revenue recognition, and channel-specific accounting (e.g., Amazon, Shopify, B2B)
Proficiency in accounting and ERP systems; QuickBooks, NetSuite, and inventory software experience preferred
Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and communication skills
Authorized to work in the United States
Comfortable working in a remote environment with cross-functional teams
Preferred Experience:
Background in home goods, seasonal décor, or consumer packaged goods
Familiarity with wholesale operations, terms, and deductions
Experience with multi-state sales tax compliance
Knowledge of freight, landed costs, and international sourcing
